
Big Learning®, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to promoting school and life success through hands-on, real-world learning experiences for children and families. We offer after-school classes, workshops, and online activities.
We focus our efforts on economically disadvantaged children and those at risk for other reasons, including English language learners and children with learning disabilities.

The Carl M. Freeman Foundation awarded a FACES grant to Big Learning to fund the Knowledge Builder after-school series (now called Big Learning KID) at the Silver Spring Boys & Girls Club.
Big Learning means learning new ideas and skills while doing a fun and meaningful activity. Big Learning activities:
- Have a design focus: building castles, balloon cars, model-size green-roof buildings, and other fun toys and structures
- Seamlessly integrate core content: math, science, art, history, and language
- Are not cookie-cutter projects: they're designed so that each person can be creative in the design and construction of their project
- Encourage the development of 21st-century skills: problem-solving, independent thinking, and teamwork
- Are research-based: built on a foundation of basic and applied research on learning and congitiion
